3 Tips To Get You Healthy!

In order to enjoy life you need to do those things you value most. Those things that are the most important to you. So anything that keeps you healthy and doing the things you love should be high on your to-do list. The good news is there’s plenty of things you can do both in and out of the gym to achieve optimum health and to live your most valued life.

For me, staying fit and healthy is incredibly important so I can spend more quality time in the water surfing, freediving and ocean paddling. I also need to be strong enough to throw and chase my 4 year old son around. At nearly 43 years of age I’m no spring chicken anymore but I’m not going to use that as an excuse to put on weight and be unfit. Sure I can’t train the same way I trained when I was 21 but I can still train hard when I want to. I just need to know which type of exercise will help me with my fitness goals and which won’t. I need a bit more time for recovery too but that’s fine. I choose things that I love doing such as going for a walk, doing some Qi Gong or freediving to help me recover better.

Here are some simple tips that I use and I know you can incorporate them into your life as well to achieve your greatest health to ensure you’re able to do those things you really love to do.

THE FIVE AND TWO RULE
Try to eat healthy and get a few exercise sessions under your belt during the five days of the week from Monday to Friday. Then on the weekend you can have a few drinks and treat yourself to a burger or another indulgent food of your choice knowing you’ve taken care of your diet and exercise during the week.

BALANCE YOUR FOOD
If you do have a burger for lunch don’t smash down a pizza for dinner. Choose something healthy to balance out your food choices for the day.

CHOOSE TO DO THE EXERCISE THAT YOU ENJOY THE MOST
This is a big one and definitely one of the most important things you can do to help you stay active and get results in the long term. If you don’t like to swim then don’t get in the pool no matter how good someone says it is for you.

I hope this email gets you inspired to make healthy choices so you can get out there and do what you love!
